" آ۔۔۔۔۔ آپ میری وجہ سے ڈسٹرب ہوں گے میں ادھر صوفے پر سو جاؤں گی۔“ اس کا لہجہ لرز رہا تھا۔ اس نے معظم کی گرفت سے اپنی کلائی چھڑانے کی سعی کی تھی۔ اسے کسی مرد نے پہلی بار چھوا تھا اس کی تو رگوں میں دوڑتا لہو منجمد ہونے لگا تھا۔
" ایک بات بتاؤں تمہیں میرے دل میں اب عورت کی تمنا نہیں ہے لیکن جہاں نکاح کی فارمیلٹی پوری ہوئی ہے وہاں ایک فارمیلٹی یہ بھی پوری ہو جائے تو کوئی فرق نہیں پڑے گا اور پھر میں یہ بھی نہیں چاہتا کہ صبح اٹھ کر تم میرے ظلم کی کہانی گھر والوں کو سناؤ میری قربانی الگ رائیگاں جائے گی اور اپنے والدین کی نظروں میں خواہ مخواہ مجرم ٹھہرایا جاؤں گا جو کہ میں نہیں چاہتا۔“ معظم نے اپنے لفظوں کی تیز دھار کا خنجر شہر بانو کے سینے میں اتار دیا تھا۔
" فار میلیٹی۔“ زیر لب بڑبڑاتے ہوئے شہر بانو کا دکھ اور صدمے سے برا حال تھا۔ اس کی ذات کی اتنی اہانت ایسی توہین جی چاہ رہا تھا کہ زمین شق ہو اور وہ اس میں سما جائے۔ لیکلخت ہی وہ کسی درخت کی ٹوٹی ہوئی ڈال کی طرح بیڈ پرڈھے گئی تھی۔
یہ تھی اس کی شب زفاف وہ کروٹ کے بل سونے کی کوشش کر رہا تھا لیکن بیڈ کے دوسرے کونے سے لگی شہر بانو کی ہچکیاں اسے بری طرح ڈسٹرب کر رہی تھیں۔۔۔۔
شہر بانو! پلیز مجھے سونے دو۔ بہت دنوں سے میں سکون کی نیند نہیں سویا ہوں۔“ معظم نے کروٹ بدلے بغیر کھردرے لہجے میں اسے پکارا تھا۔
جواباً ... شہر بانو کی سسکیاں اور زیادہ تیز ہو گئی تھیں۔
”چپ ہوتی ہو یا اٹھ کر تمہارا گلا دباؤں۔“ اس کی سمت کروٹ بدلتے وہ تپ اٹھا تھا۔

" اب تمہاری آواز آئی تو واقعی یہ احسان کردوں گا۔“ معظم پھنکارتا ہوا کروٹ بدل کر ایک بار پھر سونے کی کوشش کرنے لگا تھا اور تھوڑی دیر بعد اس کے ہلکے ہلکے خراٹوں کی آواز بھی سنائی دینے لگی لیکن شہر بانو نے ساری رات بے آواز آنسو بہاتے گزاری تھی۔
